“The Newman Memorial is a stand alone event which a lot of WA riders use as a warm up to our state series, and also the Tri-State series, said Lancaster. “It’s a well attended event held at night under lights, and over 1000 of the locals came out to watch, which made for a great atmosphere with the racing.

“The Tri-State Series starts next weekend in Adelaide (SA), and it was a great testing ground to see how I would match up against Chad McKay, who I believe will be my toughest competition in the Open Class for both the Tri-State Series, and also the WA State Championship.
“It was my first official race on the KTM ATV 450 SX, and I got off to a great start. I holeshot in my first race and then diced the entire race with Chad McKay right up to the finish line, where I took the win.
“Unfortunately Chad had mechanical challenges, and didn’t enter the final three races, but if the first race was an indication of how I stacked up against him, I’m in a good position to be competitive for the Tri-State Series.
“The following three races were quite easy for me, with the nearest competition to Chad and I from the opening race being way back in the field. Because I had no real competition once Chad was out, I just used the opportunity to become conditioned to the KTM ATV 450 SX, and its handling in a racing environment.
“I’m really happy with the KTM, especially pulling four holeshots, and I had every condition thrown at me during the racing from dust to rain and stormy winds, so I feel well prepared for the racing season ahead.
“Leading up to the Tri-State Series I’ll work a little more on my race fitness, and with everything else preparation wise I’m ready to go.”
