Courtney Knight (Team Moto Moorooka) from the Queensland Yamaha Girls Team destroyed the competition at the opening round of the Go Girls Women's Off-Road Series. Knight dominated the Senior Women's A Grade class and took the challenge to the boys pulling an unbelievable and convincing win in the opening moto for the senior men's class.

1st place getter Courtney Night

The Go-Girls series, Queensland's biggest all women's motocross series, saw 130 female riders compete in a full range of classes.

Conditions deteriorated throughout the day on the Kingaroy circuit, starting out like tacky red chewing gum and by day's end finishing hard pack and dusty. Knight was unfazed by the conditions, taking all three holeshots and then more importantly, on to convincing wins in the women's class and finishing ahead of team mate Tamara Gray and Bianca Whyte respectively.

Knight's effort in the senior mixed class with the boys was truly the show stopper for the day. In moto one she rounded the first turn in third position but quickly put the pressure on the lead riders. It was too much and they folded, making mistakes and allowing the Gold Coast girl to steal the lead. She quickly gapped the field and went on to win the opening moto. Unfortunately her luck ran out when a crash in the second and third motos relegated her off the podium.

"I just can't believe the day I have had today, winning all the girls' races was great, but I was just blown away after I managed to win the men's race. The support from the crowd was absolutely amazing."

Tamara Gray returned to racing with a 2nd Place

As mentioned, Tamara Gray's (Bayside Yamaha) return to racing after nine months off following a knee reconstruction was a steady start and rounded out the 1-2 punch to the premier women's class, taking three convincing second place finishes behind Knight.
