Junior racers kicked off the penultimate round of the popular Yamaha MX Cross Cup Series today at the Orange Showgrounds - seniors and one Junior class will follow tomorrow.
Organiser, Phil Sargent (of Dirt Bike Promotions), said the nearly 100 Juniors put on a great show today.
Sargent said he wished to congratulate today’s class winners: Corey James, Rhys Budd, Elias Dukes, Cooper Pozniak, Hayden Mellross, Luke Clout, Dylan Heaton, Brock Fayle and Meghan Rutledge.
“It was a good day, we had some rain over night so the conditions were perfect,” Sargent said.
“Racing was good. I think the interesting part for a stadium MX was they were out there for the 10-minute moto’s.
“This gave them a chance, if riders did go down they could get back up and make it into the position they should have been in, it wasn’t a hit and a miss like with the traditional, shorter stadium motocross races.”
Sargent said they were now "dressing" the track for tomorrow’s senior and one junior classes.
“It’s spitting rain again, which should again make the racing conditions for the riders really good tomorrow, it should be a really good day,” he said.
In Junior 125cc 13/14-years today, Corey James (Sponsor Point.com.au) took the top prize.
Rhys Budd (Pro Rider Motorcycles) took out the honors in Junior 50cc.
Elias Dukes (Sutto’s KTM Motorex Racing) was the fastest in Junior 65cc 10/13-years.
Cooper Pozniak (Coastal KTM) won Junior 65cc 7/9-years.
Junior 85cc/150cc 12/13-years was won by Hayden Mellross (Thor Honda Racing).
Luke Clout (Team Shift Motul Suzuki/SHF MX Coaching) was the fastest in Junior 85cc/150cc 14/15-years.
Dylan Heaton won Junior 85cc 9/U12-years.

Brock Fayle (Yamaha NSW Junior Development Team) took out Junior Lites 15-years and Meghan Rutledge (Moss Institute/Southern Highlands MC) was the quickest Junior Girl.
