Global Action Sports (GAS), the promotors of Crusty Demons, SuperX, and Nitro Circus have released a media statement regarding a legal dispute over an alleged illegal termination of the international licence agreement.
"The producers of the Crusty Demons DVD series, Fleshwound Films LLC yesterday began the first step in what is expected to be a protracted legal dispute with leading international action sports company, Global Action Sports, by illegally attempting to terminate its long term licence agreement under which Global Action Sports creates and promotes Crusty Demons shows internationally.
Mike Porra, CEO of Global Action Sports commented: “It’s disappointing that after so many years of creating, developing and promoting these shows around the world that Fleshwound have tried to do this. We have a long term contract until 2020 and the position is very clear - the licence cannot be terminated. Therefore we will continue with business as usual and fight this through the courts to its conclusion”.
When asked why he thought the Crusty DVD producers had taken this action, Mr. Porra responded: “It’s been no secret in the industry that Fleshwound were unhappy that we had acquired the worldwide rights to Nitro Circus Live. Fleshwound sees this as a threat because the Nitro Circus DVDs have been hugely outselling the Crusty Demons DVDs for some time now. We have always been confident however, that provided the two tours were not run at the same time, the market in Australia was big enough for both. Critically, there’s nothing in our licence agreement stopping us from taking on any new shows.”
The Crusty Demons Beyond the Apocalypse Australian Regional Tour 2010, created by Global Action Sports, will be promoted by Global Action Sports as planned with 14 stops across Australia’s East Coast between February and June 2010. Details will be available on the official tour website
www.crustydemonslive.com, which will go live Friday, 10
th July.
Nitro Circus Live is the hottest new property in action sports featuring 9 times X Games gold medalist pro action sports, superstar Travis Pastrana. It makes its worldwide premiere across the major Australian indoor arenas in May and June 2010.
The next step in the legal dispute is expected to be an injunction against the Crusty DVD producers and their partners preventing them from undertaking Crusty Demons shows in Australasia." (Jaime Mortimer, PR Manager, Global Action Sports)
