The Melbourne Enduro-x on Saturday 4th February 2012 has attracted Australia’s Top off Road Riders to compete in this prestigious event. All the top riders in the country have confirmed this week that they will be on the starting gate for the bragging rights and a pocket full of cash for the opening national event for 2012. All the rocks, logs, tyres and material are beginning to take shape to create a track that will challenge the riders and excite the crowd.
Organisers of the event Dave and Col Robbins reported this week that all the hard work in bringing an event of this magnitude together is definitely taking shape.
Melbourne radio station MMM has approached us and we have put together some exciting advertising slots for the 2 weeks prior to the event. MMM obviously saw the benefit in starting a partnership as they feel the event will grow in status and they want to get on board with us early.
We have introduced another new class in the over 35 group. So many of our top riders are still competitive and they approached us and said how come we are missing out on the fun. So with their experience exceeding their fitness levels we will give them a run, as they should be quite skilful to watch.
The racing format is like super cross with heats, elimination, qualifying and a last chance qualifier to get to the final. It’s in the finals where the top 10 in each class will battle it out for the win and the cash.
The classes are: Pro, expert, clubman, under 19 and over 35. With each final limited to 10 riders, there are only enough positions in each class for 20 riders total. The winner of the under 19 and expert class will be eligible to ride in the pro final making that the only race with 12 riders in it. We want to showcase the extraordinary talent of our younger riders. The whole afternoons racing will climax in the pro final, last event of the day with the winner taking home the cash and stamping his authority with the first major win of the 2012 season.
We are quite sure that Melbourne motorcycle and sports fans are ready for this new concept of the sport. Many of the riders have told us that for the first time their friends and family can come along and watch them race on the type of terrain they would normally travel hundreds of kilometres to ride on. The fact that it is only 10 kilometres from Melbourne has given them the opportunity for family, sponsors, friends etc. to see their skills.
With full catering, fully licensed bar facilities, dry area, wheelchair access, toilets, on site parking, elevated viewing area, full loud speaker systems, and the best commentators in the land in Leigh Hogan and Andy Wigan, there are no excuses not to miss it. The event is orientated to family entertainment and the excitement will commence from 11 am when the qualifying heats begin.
The event will be professionally filmed with 3 high stand filming towers around the course and roving cameras. It will be screened on Fuel TV, Youtube, and there will be a 30 minute DVD made up after the event.
Gates open at 10am on Saturday 4th February 2012. Tickets are only available at the gate. For more details see
