Top Women’s Off Road competitor, Tanya Hearn, will join the Sydney based Prorider Motorcycles KTM team for 2012. She will be racing aboard the all new fuel injected, electric start KTM250EXC-F. Tanya will continue to compete in the Women’s Class of the Australian Off-Road Championships, the Australian Four Day Enduro and other selected National events. Still residing in Cairns Nth Qld, she will continue to fly in and out to these National events to compete with her Prorider Motorcycles KTM team.
2010 was her rookie year in the AORC Series and with a podium finish in every round she was able to secure 2nd place in the Women’s Class behind Jessica Gardiner, with Jemma Wilson rounding out the final placings. She also placed 4th in the Women’s class at the 2010 A4DE behind Jessica Gardiner, Jemma Wilson and multi Australian Champion Alison Parker.
2011 brought with it some bad luck and injury. At a training ride prior to the A4DE in Sarina Nth Qld, she tore her adductor muscle in her thigh and struggled through the first two days of riding. Unfortunately a bad crash in a special test found her dislocating her shoulder and further rupturing the adductor muscle and a disappointing DNF. This injury brought with it many weeks off the bike, little training and into intensive physio sessions. Tanya rounded out the 2011 AORC Series in 4th place, this time behind Jemma Wilson, Swedish visitor Emelie Karlsson and Jessica Gardiner. She was also chosen as the Reserve for the Australian Women’s Team for the ISDE, but did not get to compete internationally.
For 2012 Tanya is planning to compete in the ISDE in Germany in September, ideally as a part of the 3 person Australian Women’s Team, but otherwise as a privateer Australian Club Rider. To assist in her fund raising for this venture she has produced a 2012 Tanya Hearn’s Racing (42cm x 30cm full colour) calendar and to purchase one you can email her at look4tanya@bigpond.com.au
Tanya would like to thank her major local sponsors – CPC Constructions Qld Pty Ltd, Terry O’Neill, NQ Auto Electrics, Pedders Suspension, Wayne Leonard Motorcycles, Megan Cox Photography, DSMRA Cairns, and the many other businesses that have helped her out.
