Australian Supercross star Chad Reed will contest Italy’s prestigious Superbowl of Supercross in Genoa this weekend.
The event will provide a crucial shake down for Reed and his TwoTwo Motorsports team ahead of the opening round of the 2012 AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship in seven weeks time.
After a successful week of testing, Reed along with newly appointed Technical Director, Mike Gosselaar and Mechanic, Lars Lindstrom made the pilgrimage to the coastal Italian city for the November 19 event which will see Reed race some of the best riders from across Europe.
“This weekend’s Genoa Supercross in Italy is a good way for me to measure my race fitness," Reed said.
“In previous years I’ve done the Bercy Supercross and some Australian Supercross races, and they’ve given me the chance to assess where I’m really at.
“This will be my only race outside America and I am looking forward to racing in front of an Italian crowd, they love their two-wheeled sport and we have quite a strong fan base there.
"I will also be running a special patch for Marco Simoncelli. Italy is obviously one of the most passionate motorcycle racing nations and Marco’s loss was felt far and wide," Reed continued.
The Genoa Supercross will be held at Genoa Palasport Fiera on Saturday 19 November (Sunday 20 Nov AEST).
