2011 proved to be a hugely successful debut year for the Suzuki MX1 Australia Off Road team.
Team manager and rider Trent Lean lead the charge by claiming the Australian Off Road Championship, Masters (over 45) class.
Competing on Suzuki’s fuel injected RMX450Z, Lean put together a consistent season of results that included four round wins, never finishing off the podium. These results helped him claim the championship by 13 points.
In a dominant display, Lean also claimed first place in the NSW Enduro Championship and the NSW Cross Country Sprint Championship.
In the Pro E2 class, Lachlan Stanford flew the team flag on board Suzuki’s RM-Z450. Lachlan rounded out the year just outside the top ten after missing the first round of the AORC with a broken hand. His best results came late in the season with a seventh outright and fourth in class at Round Eight of the Championship.
Lachlan was also a member of the winning Queensland Junior trophy team at the Australian 4 Day Enduro.
Trent Lean, Team Manager of Suzuki MX1 Australia Off Road said “We are expecting big things from Lachlan in the future. He is a great kid, has heaps of talent, his speed is developing and he has great family support.”
In the Junior Lites (J4) class, Nick Lean followed in the footsteps of father Trent by claiming a podium finish in the National Championship. Riding a big bore RM125 (144) Nick finished second overall in Junior Lites. He also claimed second place in the Junior Lites State Enduro Championship and second place in the Junior Lites State Cross Country Sprint Championship.
After winning an AORC title in 2010 on his Suzuki RM85, coupled with his great results this year, Nick will step up to the senior ranks in 2012 on board a fuel injected Suzuki RM-Z250.
Wil Ruprecht rounded out Suzuki MX1 Australia’s great season with strong results in the 12 to 15 years 85cc (J2) class on board his Suzuki RM85.
As the youngest rider in class at the AORC, Wil ran as high as second place, finishing the season in fourth.
In addition to his Australian Championship result Wil also claimed the Under 13 years 85cc class in the State Enduro Championship and the Under 13 years 85cc class in the State Cross Country Sprint Championship.
Trent Lean commented that “Wil has great natural talent on a bike. Like the other team members his future in the sport looks bright.”
Suzuki MX1 Australia finished the 2011 off road season with a tally of one Australian Championship, an Australian Championship podium (2nd), four State Championships and two State Championship podiums (2nd). These results were achieved on a variety of Suzuki off road bikes that ranged from competition four-stroke enduros to fuel injected four-stroke motocrossers and several two-stroke motocross models.
