Honda Junior Development riders, Hayden Mellross and Wayde Carter both achieved victories at the Honda Australian Junior Motocross Championships last weekend.

Hayden Mellross achieved a triumphant win in the Blue Ribbon 250cc 15 years class making the most of his final year competing in the Junior Aussie Championships.

The NSW rider who was a champion in 2010, topped the tally with a total of 70 points and is more than happy with his final result; "It's been a very enjoyable week, after winning my first ever Aussie title last year it is fantastic to back it up again as this is my last year in Juniors. The track was very rough this year and starts were very important and my CRF250 worked great in these conditions. Bring on the Supercross series!"

Wayne Carter, who was also a 2010 Champion, performed brilliantly at the 2011 event in South Australia, winning the 150cc 12-U14 years National Title. The Victorian topped the class ladder with 113 points ahead of tough competition.

Known for his ability to perform well in a range of different classes, the Victorian rider was confident in his ability to achieve excellent results at the Murray Bridge event; "I was confident coming into these titles after winning the Victorian titles on my CRF150 and CRF250. The track was tough, I struggled with arm pump from the beginning and it lasted all week, it really affected my riding but I managed to get the job done to win the 150F 12-U14years again this year".

Third Honda rider, Nick Scott did not achieve the podiums he was hoping for; "After finishing third last year on the 250cc class and doing so well in the Sun State Series I expected more. My bikes worked well in the conditions but everything I did went wrong, if I got a decent start I'd get taken out or crash. It was tough out there".

Glen Bell, Team Manager of the Honda Junior Development Team believed the boys handled the challenges well; "The conditions were very tough but that’s the way motocross should be. It's a big effort from all the families, they all work hard to keep the guys on the track and racing and without our great sponsors this wouldn't be possible. I'm very proud of the boys and what they have achieved in the last couple of years".

2011 marked the eleventh year Honda Australia has been the naming rights sponsor of the Australian Junior Motocross Championships. Honda was proud to once again to see such determination and fierce competition on the Murray Bridge track.
