Byron Bay dirt bike racer, Tom McCormack, finished second from a large field of riders at the second round of the Queensland Enduro-Cross Series held near Boonah yesterday.

McCormack, 17, won the first of seven laps and finished 38-seconds behind winner and fellow Yamaha rider, Kirk Hutton.
“I had a lot of fun yesterday,” McCormack said. “The track was a bit scary at the start, but it turned out to be a good track, the club did a good job.
“I won the first lap by a bit, Kirk is obviously very experienced and was taking it easy and playing it safe.
“The rest of the day went well for me, I made very few mistakes and learnt a lot.
“I’m really looking forward to the final round of the series, it’s being held next Sunday at Conondale, which is my favourite track for enduro in the state.
“I love Conondale... it doesn’t really matter what the weather’s doing, I always enjoy it.”
McCormack said his YZ250F was “the perfect bike” for yesterday’s challenging track.
“It was great having a light bike in all the rocks, it helped a lot,” he said.
“My YZ250F ran excellent, I didn’t have a problem with it all day... I had a lot of fun.”
About 170 riders attended yesterday’s meeting.
Tom’s next race will be the third and final round of the enduro-cross series, being held at Green Park (Conondale) October 3rd. For more info go to www.qldenduro.com
