Time is running out for Queenslanders to enjoy Australia’s premier off-road series.

The finale of the 2010 Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC) will be held next weekend (September 4th and 5th) at Cherrabah Resort (near Warwick).

Yamaha AORC coordinator, Denise Hore, said the the full-blown country resort would be an ideal venue for the final rounds, with the site boasting varying terrain, motel-style accommodation, meals, bar and all amenities.

Mrs Hore encouraged any rider from the Sunshine State and northern NSW to come partake in the event.

“Cherrabah has everything from great motel rooms to horse and quad bike riding and most importantly a big, grass pit area only minutes from the main buildings and lots of land for us to run the tracks on,” she said.

“The land is sandy to loamy and has some rocks... it also includes a natural terrain motocross track, so there’s lots for us to work with to make sure the tracks are really good.”

Mrs Hore said there was a strong off-road following in Queensland and the Warwick area - “so we’re looking forward to having local riders mixing it with the best in the country,” she said.

Queensland Enduro Champion, ‘King’ Kirk Hutton, said he was looking forward to racing on home soil next weekend.

“I’m glad the Queensland AORC is gonna be at Cherrabah. It’s awesome to stay in a nice motel and have a really good meal and then only have a two-minute drive to the pits the next morning,” Hutton said.

“Cherrabah is a great spot. It’s easy to get to, all bitumen and a short drive from Warwick, and the riding is good, it’s got a bit of everything.”

A presentation ceremony for the 2010 Yamaha AORC will be held at the resort Sunday evening. Bookings are essential. For more info go to http://www.cherrabah.com.au/ or www.aorcracing.com.au

Motel-style accommodation and camping (with services including hot showers and toilets) is available. Meals are also available Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Bookings for all three is essential, phone 07 4667 9177 or 1800 023 788.
