FMX and motocross fans listen up – one of Australia’s biggest freestyle motocross competitions is landing near Sydney next month and the best news for Aussie supporters is – it’s free!
Tearing up the paddocks in Picton (NSW)on Sunday 12th September, Aussie FMX star Robbie “Maddo” Maddison and a bunch of other pro FMX and MX riders will thrill the crowds by performing a range of highly technical, death-defying tricks.
Designed by Maddo himself, Red Bull XRAY will see fifteen of the best riders from around the world, compete in three formidable competition categories including FMX, Speed and Style and Best Whip. The rider who performs the best in all three categories through several elimination rounds, will take out the 2010 Red Bull XRAY Champion title.
Returning to Australia fresh from winning the Madrid round of Red Bull X-Fighters and achieving a silver medal at X Games 16, Robbie can’t wait to get involved in all the action on home soil: “I’m stoked to be coming back to compete in Red Bull XRAY,” said Maddo. “It’s been a project of mine for years now and last year definitely blew the doors off Picton. The Speed and Style format was perfect for the big, natural terrain course and we had some unbelievable riders on hand. I can’t wait to get back home this year and show my Aussie fans what we’re all about!”
The hills framing each side of the course will provide the perfect amphitheatre for fans to come along, watch the action, walk through the pits, meet with their favourite riders and watch the many Brown’s Grafix 50’s FMX team demos during the day…but, the best thing of all is it’s completely free! So, make sure to get to Razorback ranch early, as you don’t want to miss out on all the action!

WHO: Robbie Maddison plus fifteen of the best riders in the industry will be available for media interviews in the lead up to Red Bull XRAY and during the event.
WHY: The best international and Aussie pro FMX and MX riders* taking each other on in a gruelling battle of speed and skill. The natural terrain track is a rarity in freestyle motocross, with many competitions based around steel kickers and downramps, so get ready to see some crazy events unfold on a course constructed by Mother Nature herself.

About Red Bull XRAY
In its fourth year, Red Bull XRAY is continuing to push the limits of international and Australian FMX and MX riders. Presented by Aussie Robbie Maddison, in 2010 Red Bull XRAY will be sticking to its tradition of showcasing some of the country’s hottest talent. This year, Red Bull XRAY will be split into three categories with FMX, Speed and Style and Best Whip being rolled out for all the fans. The FMX program will see eight of the best riders from Australia and around the world go through a series of eliminators and finals until only two riders are left.
Speed and Style is a combination of racing around the course, while also trying to complete tricks over the various jumps. Each rider will circulate the track twice, going head to head. The catch is, every trick they throw equates to points deducted from their overall time. The winner is the person with lowest overall score. So, it becomes a mind game, race the course as fast as you possibly can and go for little tricks or, throw down the gnarliest tricks you can to drop your time that way. Last year, it was a nail biter.
The next format, Best Whip is simple, yet extremely technical. The riders will all hit the massive 120-foot tabletop jump in front of the judge’s tower and throw the bike as far sideways and upside down as possible. It’s something that has to be seen to be believed.
