Even temperatures slightly above 30ºC couldn’t hold back the more than 200 fierce young riders who offered the crowd at the Dardon-Gueugnon circuit an impressive riding skills show during the multiple qualifying sessions for the FIM World Junior Championship in France.

Introducing the 65cc class in the Championship, the French track hosted a brilliant performance by Taiwanese Brian Hsu, currently leading the 65cc European Championship. The Italian resident finished his qualifying session almost 3sec ahead of the rest of the field. In fact, he was so much faster that his lap would put him in 5th place in the 85cc class! Tamur Talviku from Estonia and USA’s Joseph Crown followed him with second and third fastest laps.

Aussie rider Wilson Todd was placed 9th with Mitchell Evans in 10th spot.

In the 85cc class Dutch rider Brian Bogers confirmed why he is currently leading the European Championship with the fastest lap ahead of German talent Martin Borchert and Ukrainian Rostyslav Voytsyckyy. Even riding with his recent arm injury, current 85 European Championship runner-up Micha-Boy De Waal scored seventh overall.

It was no surprise to watch the recently crowned 125 European Champion Jordi Tixier leading the French collective with his KTM to fill the top-five in the 125cc class qualifying. Sulivan Jaulin, Simon Mallet, Maxime Desprey and Benoit Paturel are his associates in the “French-attack”, all riding the 2-strokeYamahas. 6th fastest was USA’s Joey Savatgy with Stefan Olsen from Denmark following the American rider.

Sunday racing: 65cc race-1 11:30; 85cc race-1 12:15; 125cc race-1 13:10; 65cc
race-2 14:30; 85cc race-2 15:15; 125cc race-2 16:10.
