Yamaha riders Kirk Hutton and Tom McCormack continued their domination of the Queensland Pony Express series on Sunday, taking the Pro Class win by a huge margin of about 12-minutes at round two of the series.

Hutton, 37, has won the series nine times with various partners and said he was stoked to be riding with 17-year-old McCormack this season.

“Tom started this one as we agreed to take it in turns and I started at the first round last month,” Hutton said.

“Tom did brilliantly on Sunday, had a good start and came in off the first 23-minute lap with a minute lead over Ryan Smart, who was teamed up with AJ Roberts.

“I had a good day. Managed to keep it rubber side down and pull about a minute on AJ on most laps.

“Tom also had a great ride, gaining about the same on Ryan, which gave us the big lead and the win.

“The track at Kyogle was ideal, they’ve had rain so it was loamy and there was very little dust.

“Our pony express events go for five-hours, so it is a lot of riding, which is good training and good fun when you’ve got a track as ideal as the one on Sunday.

“Now we’ve won the first two rounds, the pressure isn’t on too much for the final round this weekend at Ironpot near Kingaroy.

“We’ll just go out there and do our best and I’m sure our YZ’s - I’m on the awesome YZ450F and Tom’s on the equally as good YZ250F - will carry us to a series win.”

McCormack, from Byron Bay, said his YZ250F was “working awesome”.

“The track was really technical, there were a lot of off-cambers, it was hilly and got a bit rough near the end,” he said.

“But my YZ250F had more than enough power to get up the hills and my suspension was working great, too, thanks to Chad from Chad’s Off-Road Set-Up’s.

“I really enjoyed it out there... just had fun with it and came away with the win, so it was all good.

“I’d just like to thank everybody for helping out in the pits: my dad, mum and sister helped heaps and I really appreciate it.”

The final round of the Pony Express Series will be held at Ironpot (near Kingaroy) this Sunday.

The next national race for the duo will be the final rounds of the 2010 Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC) being held at Cherrabah Resort (near Warwick) on September 4th and 5th. For more info go to www.aorcracing.com.au
