Is Yamaha's WR250R the world's best lightweight adventure bike? It's capacity to eat up mile after mile with minimal spannering would suggest so. And the number of large capacity fuel tanks sold also points to a machine ideal for long distance minus a cuumbersome weight penalty.

Crombie’s WR250R offers the ideal combination of light handling and the ability to cover huge distances in challenging terrain. Follow his Aussie adventure now

Epic motorcycle adventurer Steve Crombie has set out to prove how capable the fuel injected WR250R is by completing a solo 8000km offroad adventure from Darwin to Sydney.

Dodging crocs and waist high rivers, he is the first person this year to make it out to Limmen Camp on the Gulf of Carpentaria and has since continued south offroad to Alice Springs. Due to flooding, the Simpson has become impassable - now he will carve solo across the north west edge of the Simpson Desert and navigate his way across to the Strzlecki Desert and around the flooding Lake Eyre to Sturt National Park.

From here he will continue down to Wilcannia and onto Ivanhoe before tackling the railway tracks east back towards Sydney on 13 June.
