Brad Williscroft – Race Team Manager

“Moruya was meant to be a two day enduro event, but due to a severe weather warning coming from the south, MA made the decision to call off the second day of racing to put rider safety first,” said Williscroft.

“Knowing this was possible ahead of racing, all the boys put in 110% effort on day one to dominate their classes, and maintain the E1, E2, and E3 class lead in the AORC for Motorex KTM Off-Road Racing.

“I’m very happy with the way they all rode. Toby really put it to Stefan Merriman who came out firing after Toby beat him at the A4DE. Merriman won the first test, and Toby stuck to his guns, and was able to pull him back in the last five tests. There were seven tests on the day, Toby won five of them on the KTM 450 EXC, which gave him the overall for the round.

“Jarrod rode strong on the KTM 250 EXC F, and even won a test outright, which convincingly saw him win the E1 class, and increase his lead in the Championship.  Ben also rode really well, and was just a couple of seconds off the top three in each test. He finished a strong fourth outright, and easily won his class.

“Ben, Toby and I now head to Alice Springs on Wednesday to focus on our entry into the 2010 Finke Desert Race. For this event, I will wear two hats as Motorex KTM Off-Road Racing, Team Manager, and competitor, as I look to back up my podium from last year, whilst also assisting the boys with their own entry and drive for a podium.”

Jarrod Bewley – Pro E1 class

“I went into Moruya pretty relaxed with an attitude to have fun,” said Bewley. “We started off on the grass tracks, and I held my own riding well. There were no real lines or anything, and only 0.7 seconds separated the top three racers for outright. In the enduro tests, I had no mistakes and the guys at the control points were all really helpful so a big thanks to them.

“I ended up winning the class and had an enjoyable race meeting, even though it was cut short due to severe storm warnings. The rest of the team are now heading up to Finke to start training for the Desert Race but I won’t be going in that, so I’ll stay around my home tracks and keep practicing for the next round.”

Toby Price – Pro E2 class

“It was unfortunate racing was cut short to one day, but we knew it was on the cards with the severe weather warnings, so we all went out hard on day one,” said Price. “In my first few races I felt a little off the pace, since my focus has been on Finke Desert Race training, but I soon got back into the groove, and started making up a bit of time for the outright win. Stefan Merriman kept me honest at this round. He was really charging at Moruya, and it keeps the series on a high, so I’m glad to have him pushing me.”

Ben Grabham – Pro E3 class

“I won the E3 class at Moruya which was my main goal, and I finished fourth outright, so overall I was really happy with my results,” said Grabham. “It was a pretty challenging track, the enduro runs were short and tight, and we were lucky to have no dust considering the severe weather warning.

“I’m really feeling comfortable with off-road again, which is a positive, but on the flipside I now need to put all that to the side for the next few weeks, and practice sprinting in a straight line, as I look to defend my number one plate in the Finke Desert Race on the June long weekend.”
