Round five of the Shell Advance Sunshine State Motocross Series rolled through Roma last weekend and the Queensland Yamaha Junior Development team riders of Joel Dinsdale and Wilson Todd were in no mood for messing around.

It was all business as the boys went on to win nine out of their 12 races contested and put a strangle hold on the series in their respective classes with one round remaining.

Joel Disdale

Joel Dinsdale (Bullet Bikes) continues to have a break-out season and his riding again stepped up a notch at Roma. Dinsdale took out the 12 to 13 years 85cc class on the back off 1-2-1 results, with a fall in moto two being then only blemish. Then on board his YZ250F and with plenty of top quality riders in the field, Dinsdale pounded out three sensation moto wins to dominate the 13 to 14 years Lites class. That is five wins from six starts for Dinsdale and he now enjoys a solid lead in both classes.

“The hard work I have put in has been paying off big time the last few meetings. I am really getting into racing at the moment and I even like riding my 85cc despite getting too tall for it. I was getting great starts on it and that is rare for me,” Dinsdale states.

“On the 250, I just love that bike. Dad and I have arguments during the week about riding it. He only lets me race it, but if I had my way I would ride it from sun up to sun down only stopping for fuel,” he finishes.

Wilson Todd

Not to be outdone, Wilson Todd (Steve Hunts MC) again racked up plenty of race wins on his way to winning both the 9 to 11 years 85cc and 10 to 12 65cc. Todd races with plenty of maturity for a young rider and continues to improve with every outing. He nailed four wins and two seconds from his six races and now has a commanding lead in the championship with only the Tivoli round to come.

“I had a pretty good weekend. I crashed in the first 85cc race and had to come from way back to get second, but was able to get good starts in the last two races and get to the front early. My bikes were great and my Dad always works hard to keep them running sweet for me,” said the tough 11 year old.

Yamaha also had a successful weekend in senior competition with Harley Quinlan and Joe Hobson (Bayside Yamaha) going 1-2 in the Pro Lites class. Shaun Redhead won the Intermediate Lites, while Matt Haworth (Geoff Udy MC) logged third overall in the Pro Open division.

The sixth and final round of the 2010 Shell Advance Sunshine State Series hits Tivoli in the western suburbs of Brisbane in two weeks time. The QYJDT boys will look to put the finishing touches on an outstanding series for both riders who have dominated their classes this year.
