American import, PJ Larsen Pro Lites red plate holder from JDR Motorex KTM Racing will go into round five of the MX Nationals at Raymond Terrace on Sunday May 30, with a 24 point lead in the Pro Lites Australian Championship, a position Race Team Manager, Jay Rynenberg says the whole team will be working to maintain.
“PJ has had a consistent start to the season racing on the KTM 250 SX-F, and the entire team at JDR Motorex KTM are putting in 100 percent effort to ensure he has everything he needs around him to keep the red plate, and maintain his lead in the Pro Lites Championship. Also, in the Pro Lites, JDR Motorex KTM rider, Ryan Marmont from Wollongong is within reach of moving into third in the Championship, as he only sits a few points off Cody Mackay, who currently holds third position.
“JDR Motorex KTM Racing is actually aiming for the red plate in both the Pro Lites and Pro Open Class at Raymond Terrace, as our Pro Open rider Tye Simmonds from Bourke is only four points off reigning Australian Champion, Jay Marmont who currently leads the Open class.
“Simmonds is riding the all new KTM 350 SX-F which is proving itself as a winning machine in the European and American Motocross Championships, and together they make a good combination on the race track.
“Tye Simmonds is riding with the late Andrew McFarlane’s number 7 on his bike, and racing gear to honour our team rider who passed away at round three in Broadford (VIC). There is nothing more than Tye wants than to do Andrew proud, but at the same time we’re ensuring Tye is focused on his own race, so he doesn’t put too much pressure on himself as we know Andrew wouldn’t have wanted that.
“The best thing about Tye’s approach to racing is he doesn’t go into the race thinking he needs to win the overall Championship, instead he goes in thinking he needs to ride his own race, and improve on his last race. It’s his consistency and mind-set that has seen him do so well at only 18 years of age”.
The fifth round of the 2010 Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals will take place on Sunday 30 May at MX Central Raymond Terrace, (near Newcastle NSW). Admission is $30 for adults, $15 for children, $70 for families. For more information see
