Yamaha MX Rad racers Beau Ralston and Danny Anderson are primed and set to contest the second round of the Yamaha MX Cross Cup this weekend at Clarence (Lithgow, NSW).
The teammates were among the riders who today hit the Clarence motocross track to practice for this weekend’s contest - which will see about 350 racers battling for Yamaha MXCC series points.
Ralston, who finished only one point behind Matt Moss in Pro Open at the opening round of the series at Orange on January 31st, said he was looking forward to the weekend.
“The track’s a little bit dry and skatey now but it should be fine for the weekend,” Ralston said.
“I’m hoping for a similar result [to the first race], somewhere on the podium.”
Organiser, Phil Sargent, of Dirt Bike Promotions, said Ralston and Anderson were looking good on the track today and would be the “ones to beat” in the Pro classes this weekend.
“Beau and Digsy [Danny Anderson] placed right up there at the first round at Orange,” Sargent said.
“And they were riding well out there today, you can tell they ride and train together... I definitely tip them as ones to watch when Seniors race on Sunday.”
Juniors will be lining up tomorrow with Seniors (and one Junior class) competing on Sunday.
Sargent said a lot of work had gone into prepping the Clarence track, which is always a favourite among racers.
“This track’s got great, sandy soil that will get rough and be challenging for the riders come Sunday,” Sargent said.
“The weather’s nice and fine so we should be in for a great weekend.”
Gates at the Clarence Motocross Complex will open at 9am tomorrow and Sunday. Admission costs are (for Saturday and Sunday): $8.00/adult/day, $2.00/Child/day (5yrs - 14yrs), children under five-years-old are free.
The Yamaha MX Cross Cup is a six-round series combining three different types of motocross, with two stadium, two grass track and two ‘standard’ outdoor MX races.
The series visits five different New South Wales’ locations: Clarence (Lithgow, February 21 and 22), Dunedoo (May 2 and 3), Canberra (July 11 and 12) and Maitland (October 24). Orange will also host the 5th round on August 22 and 23.
The series boasts classes for everyone from Nippers – four to eight-year-olds on 50cc bikes – to Clubman, Women’s All Powers, Pro Lites and Pro Open.
