Scriven's Racing Team comprising of Pro Lites rider Mark Grove and Under 19s debutant Stephen Spark competed in the first round of the 2010 Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals held at Horsham on Sunday, 28 March.

Stephen Spark
Spark qualified thirty-fifth in overcast conditions, piloting his Scriven's Honda Racing CRF250 around in the course in 2:00.857, approximately nine seconds behind fast qualifier Josh Cachia in the thirty-minute practice including qualifying session. “I tried to string some decent laps together; I just found it hard to pass riders which affected my time.” Said Spark.
Mark Grove
Grove qualified thirty-first powering his Scriven's Honda Racing CRF250 around in the course in 1:59.390, eleven seconds behind Pro Lites fastest qualifier American PJ Larsen. “I am never a great qualifier,” said Grove “I was winning races in the National Cup with poor qualifying results.”
Stephen would advance from his qualifying place by two places in the under 19s first race finishing thirty-third in the first. “This event is a big learning curve, just trying to string some decent laps together.” Said Spark.
While Mark finished twenty-sixth in the Pro Lites, two minutes behind race winner PJ Larsen, over a twenty minute plus a lap race. “I just didn’t feel comfortable in the first moto.” Said Grove.
Spark’s second moto would show a continued improvement as he finished twenty-third. “National racing is different to the events I usually compete in, I am trying to improve my lap times.”
Showers affected the Horsham circuit for Grove’s second moto demonstrating a hint of form as he finished sixteenth. “I am happy with that one; I seem to ride better in the wet.” Said Grove.
The rain would make the circuit sticky in places and greasy in others, overall lap times increased as the Horsham circuit demonstrated competitor’s skill and luck for fanatical spectators.
Both Scriven’s Racing riders would suffer DNF’s in their final motos, with Stephen injuring his left hand; he will receive treatment during the week and should be a starter at the next round in Canberra on the 18th of April.
Stephen is currently ranked thirty-ninth but is equal thirtieth on points. While Mark’s final moto was also cut short as he re-injured his previously broken leg, which had sidelined him for most of last year, he is currently ranked twenty first.
“The team was having a great day, we were improving.” Said dealer principle Tim Scriven, “Stephen crashed and injured his hand. While Mark had a great start, was sitting in around twelfth early-on in the last moto, he landed a jump, the back end came around and he high-sided, and he injured his leg that he broke last year. We are not exactly sure what he has done, the x-ray performed in Horsham Sunday night was inconclusive.”
